Leoville became an incorporated village on June 26, 1944. It lies in the Rural Municipality of Spiritwood No. 496, in Census Division No. 16.
The village sits on Highway 24, which the CAA named the worst road in Saskatchewan in 2014. Highway 946 begins in Leoville and runs north from there. Today Leoville is also home to the administrative centre of the Pelican Lake First Nation band government.
